Friendship with Cambodia

We are so very grateful to the Cambodian King, the government, and the people, for allowing us to visit and become friends with the Cambodian people.

We lived in Sihanoukville/Kompongsom in Cambodia where Tige taught and Renee taught Art to the college students. Tige taught English at YWAM there as well.  We go as English and Art Teacher which are both greatly in need there.

Cambodia is a wonderful place. While in America Renee teaches Art and has a home-based Art Business, Paint 'n' Pottery.    You can visit the on-line gallery from our links page.

Brief Bio:

Tige Smith graduated from Stetson University in 1988 with a B.A. in Business Administration.  Renee Smith graduated in 1990 from the same University where they met, with a B.A. in Art.  As yet they were not believers, followers of Jesus Christ, and so they continued to flounder in sin and selfishness.  After searching for truth for a time, in January of 1989, everything changed for both Tige and his wife, Renee.  They both were blessed by God with the knowledge of Jesus the Creator, at the same time in different parts of the world:Tige in FLorida and Renee in Guatemala.

Tige was received into Howard University Law School in Washington, D.C., in the Fall of 1989, and graduated with honors in 1992.  During this time, Renee taught first grade in the District of Columbia entered Art competitions and had her Art in an Art show.  Tige worked as a judicial law clerk in Tallahassee, Florida, for the Honorable Judge Joseph Hatchett of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.  After clerking, Tige practiced law for five years in Florida and Georgia before entering seminary.  He is currently barred in the state of Florida.  He graduated Luther Rice Seminary in 2004, with a Master in Divinity.

He has written two books.  Living for Victory and Finding Rest for Your Soul is a 220 page workbook designed for understanding faith living for Christ.  The Scriptures and Roman Catholicism: An Assessment of Rome's Good News, is a straightforward and yet gentle introduction to the significant differences between Rome's theology and basic Scriptural teaching regarding the heart of the Gospel of Christ Jesus.  For more information regarding these resources, contact us.

Tige and Renee were blessed with being received by Grace Community Church in Greater Milwaukee in October of 2000.  Tige was an Associate Pastor under Pastor Ted Groves for more than five years, going off staff in March of 2006 to pursue friendship with the Cambodian people.

Tige and Renee have five wonderful children.  They have been married since 1990, and are blessed with each other.

Though we had sacrificed all financial gain to go to Cambodia, the Lord  provided for our family to spend time with the Cambodian people.  We thank those who have made that possible for us.  Tige is now in Golden Gate Seminary so we can be sent back as paid missionaries!

College student and family friend Emily Koch had stepped forward to accompany us to Cambodia in 2006.  You can hear from her at her personal page on this site. She is now a missionary in Kenya, Africa.

Praise the Lord for His mercy and grace.
